Engine Bay Detailing

A clean engine bay

The most forgotten aspect of Pro Detailing is the engine bay.
In the 80's/90's cleaning the bay required protecting electrical components very well, in more present decades we still take great care to protect connections, though they are assuredly more robust than prior decades.

Professional Engine Bay Detailing

Your engine bay deserves the same attention as your exterior. Our Engine Bay Detailing service safely removes years of grease, grime, and dirt to restore your engine compartment to pristine condition.

A clean engine bay not only looks impressive but also makes it easier to spot leaks, perform maintenance, and can even improve resale value. Plus, it keeps your engine running cooler by removing heat-trapping dirt.

Frequently Asked Questions – Engine Bay Detailing

What’s the difference between Light and Deep Degreasing?

Light ($100) is routine cleaning for well-maintained engines. Deep ($199) uses industrial-strength degreasers and intensive scrubbing for heavily soiled engines with years of buildup. Light is maintenance; Deep is restoration.

Is engine bay detailing safe for my vehicle?

Absolutely. We protect all electrical components before starting, use low-pressure water, and never force water into sensitive areas. We’re fully insured and have detailed thousands of engine bays without incident.

Can I drive the vehicle right after detailing?

Yes, but we recommend allowing adequate drying time (2-4 hours) before driving, especially in wet conditions. This ensures all water has evaporated from electrical connectors and sensitive areas.

How often should I get my engine bay detailed?

Light detailing: annually or as part of routine maintenance. Deep degreasing: every 3-5 years depending on driving conditions and climate. Rodent cleanup: immediately upon discovery of rodent activity.

What if I have rodent damage to wiring?

Our Rodent Cleanup service addresses the immediate health hazard (deposits, odors, pathogens). For electrical damage, we’ll document it and recommend you have a mechanic assess the wiring. Rodent proofing spray helps prevent future entry.

Is engine bay detailing included in Full Detail?

Yes! Full Detail includes Light Engine Bay Detailing ($100 value). If you want Deep Degreasing instead, we can upgrade for the difference ($99 more).

What does rodent-proofing spray do?

It creates an unpleasant sensory barrier that discourages rodents from re-entering the engine compartment. It’s not toxic but uses capsaicin (like hot peppers) to deter pest activity. Reapplication yearly is recommended in high-risk areas.

How long does the service take?

Light: 1-1.5 hours. Deep: 2-3 hours. Rodent Cleanup: 3-4 hours (includes duct treatment and curing time). You can wait, run errands, or use our loaner vehicle service.

What is the chlorine gas duct treatment?

A specialized purification treatment that sanitizes your entire cabin air intake and duct system, eliminating airborne pathogens left by rodents. It’s safe for occupants and highly effective at odor elimination.

Can engine bay detailing improve engine performance?

Indirectly, yes. Removing grease buildup and debris allows better heat dissipation, which can improve cooling efficiency and engine operating temperature. The primary benefit is appearance and maintenance visibility though.
