Short answer: No.
Nothing actually “fills” scratches like some kind of magic putty. If a product claims a ceramic coating will “fill scratches,” it’s pure marketing fiction.
Here’s the straight truth from Apollo Auto Spa, your East Bay specialists in paint correction and paint protection:
Scratches, swirls, and towel marring are physical defects in your clear coat. The only way to truly remove them is professional paint correction—machine polishing with progressively finer compounds and pads to safely level the surface until the defects are gone and the paint is perfectly flat again. Only then does light reflect correctly and the damage disappear.
Our CS-II Titanium, Opti-Coat Pro+, and Ceramic Pro coatings do NOT fill scratches. They’re an ultra-thin (2–6 micron) sacrificial glass layer that chemically bonds on top of the clear coat. If the surface is still scratched or swirled when we apply the coating, those imperfections get permanently sealed underneath and often look worse because the new gloss acts like a magnifying glass.
Cheap “ceramic” sealants sometimes contain temporary fillers or oils that mask very light marring for a few weeks—that’s why a $30 Amazon bottle looks amazing for a month then fades. True professional-grade coatings have zero fillers; adding them would destroy the hardness, chemical resistance, and longevity you’re paying for.
The Apollo Auto Spa rule:
- Want scratches gone? → Full paint correction first.
- Want insane gloss and years of protection? → Premium ceramic coating after the paint is flawless.
- Trying to skip correction and just coat over swirls? → We won’t do it, and you’ll hate the results.
At Apollo Auto Spa – the East Bay’s trusted name in paint correction and paint protection – we refuse to install CS-II Titanium or any of our lifetime-warrantied coatings over uncorrected paint. It’s too expensive (for you and us) to lock in imperfections forever.
Flawless paint correction + elite paint protection = a finish that looks deeper and lasts longer than factory fresh. Anything less is a waste of money.
